Workshop On Simple Risk Assessment And Control For Chemicals (SiRAC)

WHAT IS SiRAC?

SiRAC is an alternative to CHRA. Soon it is going to be a requirement under OSH (USECHH) Regulations 202X. Any workplace as stated under OSHA 1994 can opt to conduct SiRAC instead of CHRA if the types of chemical used are other than the 5 types of chemicals listed in the SiRAC Manual. SiRAC is much more cost saving than CHRA as it can be conducted by an inhouse ‘Trained Person’.

This Workshop will highlight on the updates of the chemical legislations related to health under OSHA 1994,Compensation on cases of occupational diseases related to chemicals, The introduction to SIRAC Manual: its concept, control approach & implementation . In addition , an Industrial player , a learning institution with their first group of SiRAC trained person will share their journey towards SIRAC implementation. DOSH being the Authority will also share their experiences on SiRAC enforcement exercise. Participants will also be engaged in activities such as brainstorming on SiRAC implementation and trying out the SiRAC Manual . The workshop will end with a Dialog Session comprises of 3 Panellists that will share their views on SiRAC expectation and implementation .
